    Hello lovelies,

How are you? I hope you’ve had a wonderful day. For those of you who may not know me, my name is Alanna and I run the blog Lifelikeagalaxygirl.com where I talk about everything from beauty, fashion, fitness and lifestyle to travel, food and health.

Today I thought I would share the ways I keep myself motivated. I have been in a little bit of a January slump, I haven’t felt the motivation I need to complete my goals hence why I have decided to create this post. I know a lot of people suffer from a similar thing this time of the year too so hopefully I help some of you.

    Step one – Get goals

Knowing what you want to achieve is the first step to anything. Without this, you are just floating around not really doing anything. Take time to sit down and think about what you want to be doing and then make that your primary aim.

Step two – Write them down

At school I was told to write down everything and anything and that’s because psychological studies have shown that the act of writing down your goals make them concrete and therefore you are more likely to stick to them. Writing them down will also help you stay on track.

    Step three – Reward yourself

When you achieve a goal, doesn’t it make you feel good inside? Take that feeling and turn it into something physical! After all, you’ve put in the hard work. Treating yourself to something big or small will solidify this great feeling and will keep you working towards your next goal.

Step four – Remember failure is part of success

We often lose motivation when we feel like we have failed at something. For me, if I don’t reach a goal by my set time period, I feel as though I have failed and I therefore no longer want to work on it because “what’ the point?” Well the point is, I didn’t fail and neither did you. Everyone has challenges on their way to reaching their goals, some may take more effort and more planning to reach the end target, but you need to remember that when one door closes, another two open! You need to keep your eye on the end target and not just what’s in front you right now. Always look for the bigger picture.

Step five – Learn from your mistakes

We all make them, tell me what person hasn’t! Yes, some of us make more than others and some of us make the same mistake more than once but haven’t you realised that each time you are learning something new? You’re still going to get there, just with a little more time but a lot more wisdom behind you. I get it, when you make a mistake all of your walls go up and you feel like you’ve hit another dead end. Trust me when I say, you need to walk down some rocky paths barefoot before you reach that green grass that everyone is always talking about. Take that mistake and the lesson you’ve learnt and put it to work to keep you moving forward.

Well there you have it, these are the five most valuable steps I have. Once I’ve put them into action I get my mojo back and I am ready to reach everything in my sights. I hope these steps have encouraged you not to give up and motivated you to keep on working. A piece of friendly advice for you too is to not set yourself a time frame to get something done. You’ll get there when you get there and when you do, you’ll be able to reward yourself for the perseverance and dedication you have shown yourself.

That is all from me, I hope you enjoyed reading my post, if you did be sure to head on over to my blog Lifelikeagalaxygirl.com for similar posts.

Sending you all lots of love,

    A x

This is an amazing post! It’s a bit like my last post. I love the reward part. That’s a really good point. I also really like step 4. It’s very important to realise that things may not work as well the first time and no one should give up.
