She’s baaaaack! Hello, lovelies. Welcome to my first post on jnsq.co.uk! I’m now a fully-fledged, bona-fide website. Don’t worry, I’m not going to let it go to my head… much.
How are you finding the new-look…? Let me know in the comments!
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the layout of old. It just lacked a bit of… Je Ne Sais Quoi. So, with the admin out of the way, let’s get down to business. I love Primark. Always have. (In fact, you can read about it here!) But yesterday, I did something that requires a lot of sheer confidence. With a wee bit of shame added into the mix, too.
I ventured out into the deepest unknown (The Grafton at Cambridge city centre… trust me, it makes sense!) armed only with barefaced enthusiasm, and my newly-transferred student loan. I had but one mission. I was ready.
And I got loads. Really, loads. Fake nails, fashion, facial brushes… the full Monty. Today, I want to cover the beauty side of things and let you guys know which products were worth my dollar, and which items are going straight to the returns counter.
It’s that serious.
I will never not be excited to buy cosmetics. Whenever anyone asks, ‘who was your first love?’ I know I’m obliged to reply, ‘Matt, of course!’. Nope. Cosmetics. Every time.
I purchased a ton of items I’ve been dying to try for a loooooooooong time. I believe Primark have had a real glo-up makeup-wise since I was that awkward bargain-hunting fourteen year-old; desperate to buy makeup… with her parents’ money. The Cool Suede eyeshadow palette particularly caught my eye. I’m a neutrals gal, always have been. Browns, burnt-oranges, nudes (not those nudes, cheeky!) are my forte. But, aside from that, those shimmery shades. You’ve got your rose gold, you’ve got your bronze, you’ve got your champagne… I’m buzzing to try them. I actually swatched the shimmers on my fingers ad-hoc yesterday (find them on my Instagram!) and the pigment… Muah! Perfection. The same can be said for the Rose Quartz Highlight & Glow Palette, I’ve been getting too effing used to mediocre highlighters. The shades look very promising, and I’m so excited to give them a go!
Who loves £1 false nails more than life itself? THIS GURL. Again, the glo-up is real. I remember being sixteen and attempting to wear those chunky, clunky, cuboid French manicures into sixth form. You know the ones. All of which fell off before break. Now I’m having people mistake my falsies for actual acryllics. Actual. Acryllics. For a quid. I see you, Primark, you sneaky little thing! The adorable little charm necklace was a steal, too, at only £2! When I tell you I dived for that Cancer charm… armfuls of Pisces, Libra and Scorpio charms gasped for air as I ripped them off the shelves. Raw determination in my eyes, my animalistic instincts kicking in when I started roundhouse kicking people out of the way… I don’t regret a thing. Rise-up, Cancer crew! And it really is adorable, right?
Oh yeah, ’cause the last thing you need is makeup brushes. Get a grip, Hannah. Not true! I’ve had a lot of makeup brushes in my time, but I’ve never found a facial brush that was satisfying, y’know? You see all the makeup gurus with their Kabuki-this and stipple-that, while I’d be sat at my desk with a Kiko blush brush in one hand, and tears in the other. Not that there’s anything wrong with Kiko…
I digress. I’m really gearing up to try this brushes, plus I got a round hair brush for the absolute steal of £1.
